Arctic Happenings – Winter is coming!

Arcti Adventure Happenings Newsletter

Newsletter from Arctic Adventure dated Nov. 29, 2020

Finally, it’s starting to get colder. Night frost for the first time this week. As soon as I see minuses in front of the temperature, my heart starts beating faster.

Winter is coming! I long for vast snowy landscapes, clear blue skies and beautiful adventures. Are you looking forward to it too?

Unfortunately, the coronavirus is not yet under control in the Netherlands and many other countries. Therefore, the government advises us not to travel abroad until mid-January 2021. I trust AND hope that together we can all push the infamous R(eproduction) number down significantly, so that we can get back out there.

I assume the expeditions will continue as usual in February. You can already book your expedition now and start preparing and training for this. You can cancel your participation free of charge up to 2 months before departure. No questions asked. Of course, we will not leave you out in the cold if you have booked a trip with us and the trip does not go ahead after all. You can find more information about our measures here.

Online join us on an expedition!

Since a real expedition is not yet possible, I invite you to an online expedition on Tuesday, December 8, at 7: 30 p.m. During this lecture, I will take you on my 2019 expedition to Greenland. I share my best tips on winter camping and how to deal with unforeseen and sometimes harsh conditions.

I’ll tell you about the necessary challenges that came along during this expedition and how the team members held up. Through my years of experience as an expedition leader, I had now developed an expedition method. This method helped me move forward before, during and after the expeditions. And even now, during the corona crisis, this knowledge comes in handy.

I promise you, it will be a fascinating evening.
The webinar is free to attend online. Sign up at this link.

Questions about an expedition? Make a call appointment!

Perhaps you would like to join the expedition, but have some questions. For example: Which expedition suits me best? How can I prepare properly? Or what clothing do I need? Of course, you can always email. However, you can also schedule a phone appointment with me. Then I will take 30 minutes to answer all your questions.
Make an appointment for all your questions!

Down with the corona kilos!

Because of the Corona, we now sit at home a lot more and move a lot less. In addition, chances are that you are now more likely to take an extra cookie or pour an earlier glass of wine. Understandable, but not so healthy, Around me I hear many people talking and complaining about the extra pounds they have gained over the past few months. I found etching on that!

Nice move

On my YouTube page you will find a playlist of some videos from the Dutch Mountain Sports Association. It is over 20 videos with exercises for strong calves, for example, or to improve your mobility and stability. With these exercises you can do at home, you will prepare your body for movements that will come in handy during an expedition. Even if you don’t join an expedition, you can still use the exercises to get comfortable in your skin.

Of course I wish you that comfortable in your skin anyway! I hope that despite all that is happening around us you stay healthy and positive. Therefore, take good care of yourself and those around you.
