Together with Bé van Lotringen, you choose a time for the coaching intake. In this, your central coaching question emerges. This is the central question you will work on during the coaching trip in Swedish Lapland.
You will arrive in Kiruna on your own in the early afternoon. We will pick you up from the airport or meet in the city center.
From here we will be driven to Kirunavvaara. In the lodge we can quietly “land” and get used to the new environment.
In the evening there is extensive time to reflect on your personal coaching question. We are getting ready for the rest of the week.
Just after breakfast get acquainted with the equipment for our trip on skis. We strap on the skis and click the sled behind us. Into nature. At night we sleep in a tent and prepare our own food. We have ample time for good conversation and reflection. Sleep in the expedition sleeping bag. Delicious.
In the morning, we wake up early. That sleeping bag was warmer than expected after all. Slept fine.
We eat breakfast and fill our thermoses for the day. Today we will continue. Across frozen lakes and rivers. Through forests and over hills. In expedition style. Time enough to let the thoughts come to you and relax.
Moving alternates with short breaks. This way we cover about 10 kilometers. In the evening, we set up the tent. You can do that almost anywhere. Delightful in nature. Just where we are at the time.
In the tent there is space and quiet for reflection a good conversation and dinner.
The morning ritual of the previous day repeats itself. We ski a few more miles today. We end at the beautiful Sami church in Jukkasjärvi.
When we get back outside the husky guide is waiting for us. This one takes us to the husky farm. Here we will continue to work together and individually on coaching and your development.
‘We sleep 1 night at this husky farm. A wonderful place to swap skis for huskies
We are explained about the huskies, about the sled and clothing. We change into warm clothes and get on the sled.
Slowly but surely, the caravan moves away deep into the Swedish forests. After several hours, we arrive at the wilderness hut. We feed the huskies and go to the table ourselves. In the evening we can use the sauna. The cabins are primitive, but that’s all you need here. We have each other and the stories come naturally to the table. We fire up the fireplace and if we are lucky we will see the Northern Lights.
Early in the morning the huskies are already waiting for us. We will take a beautiful trek through the wilderness in the morning.
After lunch, we bid farewell to our four-legged friends. We are taken to our last stop. Camp Ripan. Here we stay for the last night. A starred location with sublime restaurant.
We slide into the restaurant at 7 p.m. for a meal of local delicacies over a good glass of wine. Late into the night we talk on about the past wonderful days.
At 09:00 the cab is in front to take us back to Kiruna airport. You will return home on your own. Or maybe stay in Stockholm for a few more days. While you’re there…
The end of a few unforgettable special days. But the question that inevitably comes up now is, “How do I explain these impressions to friends and colleagues? That’s actually not doable.
Together with Bé, you choose moments to reflect on the whole trajectory you went through in the Netherlands and Sweden. What the learning points, concerns and gains are from this magisterial journey of discovery through Arctic Lapland and yourself.

Beyond the two individual coaching sessions with Bé, we meet one more time.
We meet once before the trip. Live or digital. We pick the date by mutual agreement. Then we get to know each other. You’ll get an explanation of the materials and we’ll consider the map. With tea and coffee, we will discuss the trip and if possible set up the tent.
Tours at Arctic Adventure are “Expedition Experiences. You experience what an expedition could be like. Sometimes spicy, sometimes easy. But always together.
We sleep in tents. You do this with someone else (or your partner) from the group. On summer trips, you can choose to bring your own tent. So then you can also sleep alone. On winter trips, at least two people always sleep in a tent for safety reasons.
Moving, cooking and navigating are done together. The beauty of small groups is that there is always a real and good group feeling. Sometimes there are friendships and reunions years later.
We keep in touch with each other before (and often after) in a WhatsApp group.
This “Expedition Experience” is a Blue label expedition and low-key in scope. Still, basic fitness is necessary. Depending on the weather, it could be a spirited ride.
You don’t have to run a marathon. But assume you should be able to run 10 kilometers with a 10-kilogram backpack at a normal pace, 10 days in a row.
10 kilometers of continuous running is also good. Do you have any questions about this? If so, please contact the guide.
During the trek, there is mainly physical stress on the knees and lower back.
Are you over 60 and want to participate in this tour? If so, we highly recommend you get a sports medical examination. Read more about the possibilities here.
During the trip we are in uninhabited territory. In case of emergency, our position can always be reached by the rescue services with a snowmobile.
The guide carries communication devices and both digital (GPS) and analog (Compass) navigation.
The guide has training in Wilderness Advanced First Aid and WGA I (Wilderness Guide Association)
After your registration (or upon request) you’ll receive a detailed packing list.
Do you want to read more (everything) about cross-country skiing? Because that’s what we’ll be doing during this expedition. Then read it on the site of toerlanglauftochten.nl.
