The Final Meters of the Greenland Expedition 2025

On Tuesday, September 9, we covered the final meters of our expedition. Last night, we arrived at Point 660, the endpoint of our journey across the Greenland ice sheet. Although we still had a small distance of 500 meters to cover to the pickup point, it was a special conclusion. We stayed on the ice for a special reason: David celebrated his birthday on the ice sheet. It was a double celebration!

A Worthy Farewell to the Ice

After spending a month on the ice, I felt it was important to say goodbye in a meaningful way. I asked the participants to find their own spot and reflect on the entire journey: the beautiful moments, the challenges, the nature, and each other. Everyone did this in their own way, without me asking about their thoughts or feelings. I sat on a small hill of stones, left by the retreating glacier ice.

An Expedition Stops, but Never Ends

Although our expedition has officially stopped, this experience will always stay with us. There will be moments when we look back on this journey and relive the memories. The photos and experiences will remain with us for a long time.

Thanks to all Involved

As we conclude this expedition, I would like to thank everyone who supported us. First and foremost, our family members, who had to miss us and could only have sporadic contact with us. Your support meant a lot to us. Additionally, I want to thank Wouter, our superb Basecamp Manager, for his indispensable support from afar. Dirk, who assisted Wouter with the weather reports, also deserves our thanks. Maybritt from Extreme Medicine, thank you for your medical support and preparation. Thanks to you, we encountered few problems during the expedition. Our sponsors also deserve a special mention: Rab for the expedition clothing, Xtorm for the solar panels and power banks, Noten.nl for the Arctic Adventure mix, and xfood.nl for the meal advice. Finally, I want to thank Susana, David, Ronnie, and Michiel for their trust in Arctic Adventure and me as the expedition leader. Thanks to you, we formed a close-knit team that crossed the ice sheet in record time.

In Conclusion

This was the last blog update of the Greenland Expedition 2025. Thank you for following our adventure. We hope to see you again soon, maybe even as a participant in a future expedition! See you in the Netherlands on September 13 when we arrive from Copenhagen. Thank you for your involvement and perhaps until next time!
