Olofström in southern Sweden is closer than you think.

Below I give some options for getting there.

For this example, I am using the start location for the Autumn Canoe & Hike trek.

By car from Utrecht

By car, you can choose from two options that are easiest. See the route in Google map here: https://goo.gl/maps/QNE6crhE6jacdQ3t8
Car: Utrecht via Hamburg to Puttgarden. About a 6-hour drive.
Boat: Puttgarden (Germany) – Rødby (Denmark). About 1 hour including waiting.
Car: Rødby via the Oresunds Bridge (toll bridge between Copenhagen and Malmö) to Olofström. About 4 hours.

Alternative route to southern Sweden

Driving via the Storebæltsbroen (bridge connecting Funen and Sjælland in Denmark)
Then the route is as follows:
Utrecht via Hamburg to Flensburg, Kolding, Copenhagen (toll bridge between Copenhagen and Malmö) to Olofström. About 11 hours

Costs by car to southern Sweden

Toll bridges:
You pay the Storebæltsbroen on the spot. If you take this route. +/- €70 return
The Oresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden you pay on the Swedish side. +/- €130 return
But you can also arrange your ticket in advance online here.

Boat:
The ferry between Puttgarden and Rødby costs about €160 round trip.
The ticket is inexpensive and easy to arrange in advance via Scandlines’ app.
Then do so at least a day in advance to still take advantage of the more advantageous “Standard” rate.

Fuel:
Fuel cost for the car is about €250 return

By train to southern Sweden

Check this website for international train tickets

Take the train to Bromölla in Sweden. 6 transfers if you leave from Utrecht. (+/- €100 round trip from Utrecht)

Then bus 561 to Olofström (€14 round trip)
Check this website for regional bus in southern Sweden.

If you are traveling alone, this is by far the most economical and environmentally friendly option.

By plane and train to southern Sweden

Schiphol-Copenhagen. (from +/- €200)
See Skyscanner’ s website for options.

Then continue by train from Kastrup (Copenhagen airport) to Bromölla. This train trip takes 2.5 hours (+/- €45 round trip)
In Bromölla name the bus 561 to Olofström (€14 return)

From the bus station in Olofström, you can be picked up by another participant on the tour. You take a cab or walk the last kilometer.
